UPSC CDS 2 Exam 2023: Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Candidates must be citizens of India, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, Tibetan refugees who migrated to India before January 01, 1962, or individuals of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, or Vietnam with the intention of permanent settlement in India.
  • Education Qualification: The educational requirements vary depending on the academy:
    • For Indian Military Academy and Officers’ Training Academy: Graduation degree from a recognized University or equivalent.
    • For Indian Naval Academy: Graduation in Engineering from a recognized University/Institution.
    • For Air Force Academy: Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University, with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level, or Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Age Limit: The candidate should be between 20 to 24 years old as of 1st July 2023. Detailed age limit information can be found in the official notification.

UPSC CDS 2 Exam 2023: Selection Procedure

The selection process for AFA, IMA, INA, and Officers Training Academy posts consists of the following stages:

  1. Written Exam
  2. SSB Interview/Personality Test

UPSC CDS 2 Exam 2023: Exam Pattern

Candidates must clear the CDS Written Examination to qualify for the interview round. Here is the exam pattern for each position:

  • The question paper for General Knowledge and Elementary Mathematics will be set in Hindi as well as English.
  • Each paper will have Multiple-Choice Questions.
  • There will be a penalty of 1/3 marks for each incorrect answer.
  • The duration of each exam is 2 hours.

For Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy:

  • English: 120 marks, 2 hours duration

  • Elementary Mathematics: 100 marks, 2 hours duration

For Officers’ Training Academy:

Note: The maximum marks allotted to the written examination and interviews will be equal for each course. The maximum marks will be 300 for admission to the Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy, and 200 for Officers’ Training Academy.
